Prayer Walking

Generally, when prayer is mentioned, most of us think about praying before meals, 'prayer meetings' at church and bedtime....remember your mom saying....' and say your prayers before you go to sleep.' Praying also brings to mind a certain posture for prayer...heads bowed and eyes closed. All that is important and should be continued, but much more is needed.

When you join one of our one week, two weeks, or longer mission projects, you will have an opportunity to experience prayer walking. Usually, we work with, and through, churches, pastors or Christian leaders in the community we are serving. They know the areas that needs prayer. It might be a school, a business, a 'den of iniquity,' or just an area.

You will not be carrying a big badge that says Prayer Warrior. Nor will you be handing our tracts. Most likely you will not be carrying a Bible. Your head will not be bowed, nor your eyes closed.  You will appear to be a shopper or average tourist. With your head up, eyes open and while walking, browsing or shopping, you will be praying. It's an awesome experience!

No experience is necessary. Those interested in Prayer Walking will gather somewhere near the project site for a hour or so for training. You will be accompanied by an experience Prayer Walker until you feel comfortable and then you can become a trainer and teach others how to receive this tremendous blessing.

Praying the Darkness Away focuses on four distinct areas:
