The Nehemiah Story – Part Three
The Burden
Nehemiah was living very comfortable. He was a close advisor to King Artaxerxes and trusted servant. Most likely, he lived in the palace and had everything he could desire. Many of us live like that today. Maybe not in a palace, but our lives our bountiful and we have more than what we need, and through various means, can get whatever our heart desires.
Then, Nehemiah got word that, “those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire. When I heard these things, I sat down and wept” When God placed this burden on Nehemiah, it became a project that would continue for the rest of his life.
When Experiencing God Through Missions Inc was founded in 1996, God placed on us a burden for two very different areas – Mexico and West Virginia. We thought it would be ‘for the rest of our lives’ but God had other plans and our Mexico/West Virginia service was just for a ‘season of time.’
Nehemiah served in Judah for 12 years – his ‘season of time’ – then returned to serve King Artaxerxes for a ‘season of time.’
For a ‘season of time,’ God confined the work of Experiencing God Through Missions Inc to the western North Carolina area. Then, in October 2006, He gave us a burden to serve Him in the ‘spiritual frontier.’
In the next Newsletter, you will learn what Nehemiah did first – and what we have learned to do first!
